The only requirement to join is that you are a breast cancer survivor and are able to swim 50m, and don’t mind getting wet!What is Dragon boating?The sport of dragon boating is simply 20 paddlers, sitting side-by-side, and paddling a 12-metre long dragon boat down a course usually from 350 to 500 metres, depending on the event and venue.Our team consists of
Where to find usWe train at least twice a week, on the water from November to March at Pier Z, Westhaven Drive, Auckland City - Tuesday evenings and Sunday mornings. During spring we have on-the-land training to maintain our fitness.CostsAnnual membership fee of $75 plus a one off fee of $30 for equipment.EquipmentTeam uniform and equipment is supplied on a “loan” basis for as long as you are a member. Our colours are black and pink. We are the team in the pink caps!CommitmentAll we ask of you, is a commitment to the team of your time, a commitment to training and a commitment to keep improving your fitness levels.Each member is also asked to contribute their expertise to the team. Without the members’ efforts and also our sponsors, especially our elite Sponsor, Ascot Radiology/Abano Healthcare, we would not exist. CompetitionsWe compete in dragon boating festivals – in the open division and in the Breast Cancer division, all up, about five races a day!
